The actions have been executing correctly for a long time, then after the update, any time an action is called in any shortcut, I get the error “the action could not run because Actions for Obsidian app quit unexpectedly.” When I try to run the app manually, it flashes on the screen and closes. I have reinstalled the app and reset preferences, containers, caches, etc. I was able to get the app to work and go through the setup (including restoring purchases), and it then worked for a few hours, and then went back to the same behavior.
Hi @Manuel_Castaneda, welcome to the forum! I’m sorry to hear you ran into issues – if it’s any consolation, you’re not the only person experiencing that.
The 26.x updates are not the greatest when it comes to Shortcuts stability, it seems.

This is very weird behavior and shouldn’t happen unless the app was called by Shortcuts in the background, hmmm.
Would it be okay if I got back to you at the email address in your forum profile?
Of course - feel free to reach out
Seeing this too. AFO action “quit unexpectedly” if run from Shortcuts, or its main window flashes and closes if opened in the Launchpad (or whatever it’s called now). AFO 2025.1.2 and macOS 26.1.
Thanks, @xcaveman (and welcome!). Out of curiosity, what processor does your Mac have (M1, M2, …)?
Dev update: Looks like I managed to nail that bug (big thanks to @Manuel_Castaneda for all the help!!); I’m 95% certain I’ll be able to submit an update to the App Store review tomorrow.
I’ll keep you posted.
M1. Looks like you’ve found a solution. Looking forward to it!
I’ve hacking together my own little ecosystem of writing tools for my spicy brain using Obsidian as a backend of sorts. So much of it relies on shortcuts to integrate AI models and I’m actually really sad right now without my prosthetic executive function scaffolding my capacity to be creative.
Anyone have any ideas for a service that could replace shortcuts, because Apple clearly DGAF about the product.

First up: Thanks for not blaming us devs here, I truly appreciate it.
You could try URI scripting directly, there are several Obsidian plugins which let you do a lot, e.g. my own Actions URI. Other than that: shell scripting, maybe? I mean directly working with the note files.
