🚀 BarCuts v2026.2.0

As always, if BarCuts is already running on your Mac, either wait for the automatic update to pop up on its own (which might take up to 24h), or open the app window, then select “Check for updates …” from the main menu.

Let me know if you come across any issues with the new version, please! :call_me_hand:t3:

New and exciting

  • BarCuts now speaks German, French, Italian, Polish, and Spanish! If you come across anything that looks off, please let me know.

Changes

  • BarCuts now requires macOS 15.6 or later.
  • Major improvements were made to the underlying systems for licensing, trials, and updates.
  • Updated several dependency packages.

A note about the licensing update. This release reworks the licensing system under the hood. It’s a big change, and I’d like all existing customers to upgrade to it. So if you bought BarCuts before 2025-08-07, I’ve extended your update window.

BarCuts licenses are perpetual, as you probably know. You get 12 months of updates from your purchase date, and after that your license keeps working with the last version you received. Quoting the store page:

Any new version of the purchased app released within 12 months of your purchase will be available to you, as part of the Upgrade Plan.

When your Upgrade Plan expires, your license will continue to work with the latest version of the app that you received.

For anyone whose 12 months have already run out, that means the plan would’ve covered v2026.1.1 but not this build. So I’ve moved the “updates valid until” date on all those older licenses to next Saturday, 2026-08-07.

In plain terms: no matter when you bought BarCuts, you’re good for v2026.2.0.
