Custom daily notes location

Greetings!

I started using actions for obsidian today, plan to use lifetime license for both MacOs and iOS. I am first trying to create a shortcut to insert text in a “To-Do” section or “Log” section. I would like help to:

  1. My new notes, including my daily notes are created in a folder called “000.DailyNotes”. However, using the Append to Note, using “Daily Note”, it correct captures my daily notes format but creates at vault’s root folder.
  2. How can I setup my shortcut to, beyond the text I want to add I also want to choose between Todo and Log? And how do I insert text in this specific position?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, @fcastell!

However, using the Append to Note, using “Daily Note”, it correct captures my daily notes format but creates at vault’s root folder.

Since AFO uses the daily notes configuration that’s set in Obsidian itself, that sounds like it might be misconfigured there? Also, I’ve heard of issues when both the core Daily Notes plugin and the community plugin Periodic Notes were active, because then one of the two might be chosen at random.

If that’s not it, it’d help if you could provide a screenshot of your workflow, and please ensure the optional settings section of each action is expanded, like so:

How can I setup my shortcut to, beyond the text I want to add I also want to choose between Todo and Log? And how do I insert text in this specific position?

Let’s assume your daily note has two related sections:

…

## Todo

## Log

…

You could either set up two different workflows, one for each section, or have one workflow ask for the headline below which you want to add text:

This workflow uses the built-in Choose From List action, and AFO’s Append Text To A Note action. (See the link for the action’s documentation.)

Hope this helps!

You were quicker—exactly what I was about to suggest!
