How to enable "Allow JavaScript from Apple Events" in your browsers

Browser Actions uses JavaScript to get web page details on your behalf. To do this, it utilizes a developer feature in your browser that must first be enabled.

Table of contents:

Brave Browser

Menu ViewDeveloper → enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Safari 16

First, enable the “Develop” menu by opening the Settings window (menu SafariSettings…), going into its Advanced tab, and enabling Show Develop menu in menu bar.

Close the Settings window, then go to menu Develop → enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Safari 17

Open the Settings window (menu SafariSettings…), go to the Advanced tab, and enable “Show features for web developers” (1). This will make the Developer tab (2) appear. Go to this new tab and check the box Allow JavaScript from Apple Events (3).

Chromium

Menu ViewDeveloper → enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Google Chrome

Menu ViewDeveloper → enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Microsoft Edge

Menu ToolsDeveloper → enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Vivaldi

Open the Vivaldi preferences (menu VivaldiPreferences…) and find its Privacy and Security section. There, enable Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.

Arc:

View → Developer → Allow Javascript from Apple Events

I know, but Arc will not be supported at launch. Its AppleScript capabilities differ a lot from the other browsers, and it’ll have to wait, I’m afraid.

Ah ok :+1: Oh well - I’m using a mix of browsers right now anyway.
