THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. The database model is subject to change, that’s why it’s still beta. There might be breaking changes from one beta to the next! And now you know.

Released on 2026-03-20.
New & Exciting
- Apple Music metadata — All track metadata like album title, release year, and artwork is now provided by Apple Music, the same source as the initial track recognition. No Apple Music subscription needed; the app uses Apple’s public catalog. You’ll see a one-time permission prompt when you first start listening after this update, please grant the permission, otherwise LP won’t work.
- Full Spotify channel — Spotify is back as a proper channel with likes/unlikes, “Add to Library”, and enrichment. You’ll need to bring your own Spotify API keys — but fret not, I’ve prepared an (hopefully) easy-to-follow guide that walks you through the setup!
No Longer Broken
- Widget & notifications — The “Now Playing” widget and track notifications now update within seconds after recognition. Previously they could lag behind by several minutes when the enrichment queue was busy.
- Fixed a duplicate “Settings…” entry in the application menu. Thanks for the report, @doug78645!
Changes
- Permissions tab — The old Microphone tab in Settings is now a unified Permissions tab covering both microphone and Apple Music access. If either permission is missing when you launch the app or start listening, you’ll be pointed to the right spot.
