Mononote Feature request: Move new tab next to the tab that opened it

Thank you for the plugin!

It’d be great to have an option to automatically move the found new tab next to the current tab (the tab that tried to open the same tab again). Because sometimes when there are many open tabs Mononote can move focus several tabs away, then the required stacked tabs will not be seen on the screen.

Welcome to the forum, @Smart-Y!

That’s a good idea but I’ll be honest, it’s out of scope for Mononote. Because the placement of the new tabs is core Obsidian functionality, and AFAICT there is no “clean” way to hook into (and change the) placement of newly created tabs. And I don’t want to overwrite Obsidian-internal code – there be dragons.

There are other people who are willing to do that, however, so maybe take a look at Open Tab Settings, which “customize[s] new tab placement and order”. I haven’t tried it myself yet but it sounds like what you’re looking for.

Hope that helps!
