It’s super frustrating working with Shortcuts with the lack of feedback. I’m just trying to move the active note which is in the root folder into a subfolder. Simple right? Well I’m missing something, & the documentation Carlo is bare bones at best.
What am I doing wrong? I think I have tried every combination of specifying the path and file name for both the source and the target but none of them have worked so far and after an hour I’m giving up and hoping somewhere here can help me. Appreciate any advice.
Good morning! I’m sorry to hear you ran into issues, I’ll update the docs when I’ll be back home. (My wife and I are currently on the road because anniversary.)
So here’s just a quick solution that worked for me:
- Is just a placeholder, for you it’d be the Set Note Properties action.
- Set Rename/Move Note (not Rename File!) to
note
, pass in the result of (1) as the note references.
- Set the target path, and if you want to keep the note’s file name, add the note reference to the target path, then click that reference so its properties come up, and pick “File Name” from the list of available properties.
This will move your note to another folder while keeping its name. If you have suggestions on how to streamline this, please let me know! I’m just a guy, it’s not that only I have good ideas
Carlo! Thank you. That did the trick.
Appreciate your timely response.
