Using ios shortcuts to get Apple Workout data into Obsidian

Hello!

I’m not very versed in IOS shortcuts. But I’m generally good at adapting examples to meet my needs. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the data from my Apple Workouts into Obsidian. I’m thinking the best way is through a shortcut automation that triggers when a workout ends. Can anyone help me?

Thank you!
~Dana

Hi @Dana_K,

Thank for raising this and curious to see the response you get as I have a similar question. Apart from Activity minutes, I’d be curious to get other metrics from the Health app like sleep duration.

Generally, ShortCuts should be able to get the information from the Health app but in the case of sleep duration, you have to run a loop (and somehow I always get a wrong amount).

So a wholehearted +1 – Let’s see if others have similar questions or answers!

Welcome to the forum, @Dana_K!

As far as I can tell, the Health app itself doesn’t surface that particular data type to Shortcuts. You’ll have to get a 3rd party utility like Toolbox Pro for that, which brings a dedicated Get Workouts action (among many other things, it’s a great app):

Update / PS: I don’t think iOS automation has a trigger for “workout finished” that would automatically run a workflow for you.

@LikeShootingStars There’s an app called AutoSleep which lets you export your sleeping times, maybe that helps?
